Started reading a set of Roman Mysteries ... they are aimed at the Harry Potter age group - with a Famous Five thing going on with four kids and a dog but that is where the similarity ends ... as there is more grit in the stories and no ginger beer.
Written by Caroline Lawson.

Characters include Flavia, a daughter of a Roman sailor - Nubia - an african slave girl - Lupus a mute beggar boy and Jonathan a Jew whose father converted to Christianity therefore not exactly popular as they are set AD 79.

Enjoying the first book so far and is definitely keeping me guessing.

Thanks for the recommendation chris.ph and Lady Vetinari  I'm not sure my sister has The Redemption of Altheus, but if not I could always buy it as her Christmas present ;)

In the end I went for Going Postal  Forgot to mention in my last post that I'm also listening to The Lord of The Rings... but I keep missing 20 minute sections because the narrators voice is so relaxing I've been switching off!

The Graveyard book by Neil Gaiman  Like it
Loved that book!

Has anyone read Odd and the Frost Giants yet?

I've recently finished, The Book of Lost Things, good, but not great - pretty predictable.

Welcome to the Jungle, a Dresden Files story in comic book form. Fun! But, I much prefer novels.

I'm now reading Fragment by William Fahy (?). Too early to tell if it's good, but it's obviously going for a Michael Chrichton style.

Almost finished Definatley Dead, next will be The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown seen the two films never read the books, but this one I want to see how well he has done his research, and how much he stetches the facts.

Oh and it was a gift. :)

I finished Masha Hamilton's The Camel Bookmobile - a bit pants. Poorly written, interesting subject, boring plot. It was for reading group (it got slated).

Then I read Hilary Mantel's Beyond Black - very good book, I read it because she won the Man Booker with Wolf Hall, but I'm not so interested in historical fiction so I got this one out instead.

Now I'm onto Graham Greene's The Tenth Man.

No time for Equal Rites! Read it about 6 months ago, that will have to do.

I've finished Going Postal and have moved onto Making Money... and I have come to the conclusion that TP is an economic genius who foresaw the banking crisis!

The 'have you tried' exhange between Moist and Mavolio Bent in Making Money amuses me a lot. I have a chronic illness and this kind of conversation tends to pop up quite a lot. Luckily my family mostly know better and my friends also have experience of being ill, so they don't expect me to follow through on every possible theory :p

And I'm still listening to The Fellowship of the Ring as well and have about 90 minutes left before I have to download the final section :)

I've just started The Dolphins of Pern by Anne McCaffrey. :) I notice that she gives acknowledgement for scientific advice to "Dr. Jack Cohen" - wonder if it's the same guy who co-writes the Science of Discworld books.

Oooh you shall enjoy that one Tony, I know I did. I am reading Secrets of the Wee Free Men and Discworld :The myths and Legends of Terry Pratchett's Multiverse: by Carrie Pyykkonen and Linda Washington. Pretty good so far, they try to make it funnier than Terry but Hey everyone has a book in them and should have a chance.

now, I enter the awful world of Colonoscopy prep. Chris.ph knows and I don't know how many others, but it involves not eating all day, and in my case not much yesterday, as I really have a thing about not wanting to ... oh you know. That having been said, I am going to have a lie down, think about NOT being hungry and read.

If the book is truly bad, I have many TP books I got from Half.com and La a First Edition of Monstrous Regiment.
