I've already read Joe Abercrombie's First Law trilogy, but that was after a significant gap between each novel. I've just read all three of them as one continuous story, and boy does it make a difference. I honestly believe it's the best BFFT* in many, many years.
I'm looking for a change of pace, while still being in a fantastical frame of mind, so I'm about to start The Magician's Guild trilogy by Trudi Canavan and dipping into Larry Niven's Tales of Known Space now and again. For SF, it's hard to beat a bit of Niven at his peak.
* Big Fat Fantasy Trilogy, for the uninitiated
