Buggrit. £3.99 at play.com. Buggrit. Ordered it. Buggrit.

When does Midnight come out in paperback?
No idea . Sadly. I always order Play cos they deliver free to Ireland unlike any of the rest but recently every oreder seems to take three weeks when it used to be one. I'm starting to reconsider my custom but they have such great bargains. We shall see.

Is Flashman actually based on the bully in "Tom Brown's Schooldays" or is that another random legend?
Yes he really is! There's mention of Tom Brown and Rugby School in the books. Several of the characters crop up during the series too.

Actually, Terry parodied Tom Brown's School Days in Pyramids. In TBSD, Flashy had a pal named Speedicut - Terry has a bully named Fliemoe. Both of them are named after lawnmowers.

I loved the books, in fact anything by MacDonald Fraser is worth reading especially his war memoir, Quartered Safe Out Here, giving his time in Burma
I got this one for my dad, who was also in Burma during the war. The book could could have almost been written by my day, as so many of GMF's experiences were very similar. Sadly my dad had a stroke and died before he got the chance to read it. It will always be a very special book to me. :)

I'm just starting The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I had to buy this one from Oxfam books, because it was missing in the library, so I hope it's good!
