Just started on Buddha, by Karen Armstrong

It tells about what little is known about the life of Buddha and introduces the key tenents of buddhisim. Hope it's good, I'm not too keen on religious stuff.

Make some for me while you're at it. ;)
PMSL! Missed that one myself ;)

Just finished Gods Behaving Badly by Philippa Gregory (I think). Either she's been reading Small Gods or she & Terry have the same sources. Quite enjoyed it.

I'm reading Vicious Circle by Mike Carey, again. Mainly because it's a paperback so fits neatly into my handbag and was handy when I was hurrying out the door to catch the bus. I believe there may be an Alan Moore novel coming my way before the year is out...

Would that be a graphic novel or his famous novel, Voice of the Fire? Everything by Alan Moore is worth reading, Voice of the Fire is one of my favourite books.

I thought wrong. Just for the record, it's by Maria Phillips.

Now I'm reading Birds Without Wings by Louis de Bernieres, for my reading group. 600+ pages, and not to be entered into lightly

I'll let you know, that's all I've been told. I'm working my way through his back catalogue gradually, I think Hypothetical Lizard has been my favourite so far just for being so haunting.

Have you read From Hell, or Watchmen or The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by him? They are all masterpieces. The films have not been very good so far (I'm not expecting much from Watchmen), except for V for Vendetta. Damn I admire the guy so much!
Haven't read Hypothetical Lizard yet, gotta add that one to the list.

From Hell, V for Vendetta, All the League books, Watchmen, his whole Swamp Thing run, most of the stuff he did for America's Best Comics, Top 10, Top 10 Fortyniners, Tom Strong, Promethea... I have The Mindscape of Alan Moore on DVD and I keep a link to the YouTube of his contribution to a documentary on religion.

I love Alan Moore.

Has anyone else read "Jurgen" written by James Branch Cabell? It compares to some of Terry Pratchetts writings.

J.B.Cabell American writer;wrote about 50 books a lot of which concern an imaginary country "Poictesme"and set in about 12th. century Europe.Jurgen was published @ 1919 and was banned in America by the Comstock society for being pornographic;ban overturned (check Google).Very humorous, very distinctive use of high flown English

I'm reading Devil bones by Kathy Reichs. Got the whole series and love her books :) Bought it as a pre-christmas present for myself actually...
Am also reading the Discworld folklore book (can't remenber what it's called) and I think it's really great, but I love mythology and folklore so that didn't come as a surprise.

I love her books too! They are sooooo much better than Patricia Cornwell. I've tried a couple of hers and thought they were crap!

I'm currently reading The Lighthouse by P.D. James that Sharlene got me for Christmas. Sharlene introduced me to Reichs as well as Brian Jacques and Tony Hillerman and this is my first P.D. James - enjoying it so far. :)
