The big release in the next month is Quarry By Iain Banks. Possibly his last book with his health and the publication has been brought forward because of this.

It was the publishers decison to bring it forward pip as you said, I expect it will be in the bestsellers list if not topping it.

I really liked his last book, Stonemouth so I'm looking forward to it for non morbid reasons.but the publicity and all that are going to make this a massive seller.

Can't change the historical facts but it's been a stonking good read so far.

US release date 16th - 29th September 2013 (Aug 29 in UK)
Only young people can perceive (see/hear/whatever their talent is) the ghosts and other monsters haunting England and especially London by night. They fight them with swords.
Movie already being planned.
I liked Stroud's Bartimaeus series and this new series looks good.
