Saw The Hunger Games on Friday. One thing that really annoyed me(be warned spoiler coming up) is that in the book Peeta's leg had to be amputated where as in the movie the medicine healed him overnight :x But besides that it was a pretty accurate adaption.

Immortals was soooo ridiculous!

I've been watching a load of Star Trek while commuting, just started season 5 of The Next Generation. Loads of good eps, and many that I didn't really remember the details of. Best one so far was Yesterday's Enterprise, Picard saying the war was going badly for the Federation gave me goosebumps :)

Overall, it's a very enjoyable experience. I've seen them all before, multiple times even, during my teens. But watching them now you notice different things. Like how Patrick Stewart elevates even the simplest story to another level by his awesome acting. And how badly written Troi is. Some great moments, some lame stories... I'm loving them all!
I've brought series 2 through 7 of TNG with me to Tucson as well as all three series of the original series. Sharlene hasn't seen them before and I'm turning her into a fan. She already has all of Deep Space Nine and Voyager which she watches a lot and, last time I was here, we watched all of Enterprise together.

It's considerably cheaper to buy the boxed sets in the UK than over here in the US for some reason.

(I've left series 1 of TNG at home, as I find that hard to watch for the most part).

I thought you weren't a fan of the original series?

If Sharlene didn't get enough sympathy from me before, she will now  And I actually like Star Trek!

I didn't say I wasn't a fan, just that I preferred the later series. Plus it had been so long since I saw any original series that I'd forgotten how good some of it was. ;)

Just saw a trailer for Tim Burton's remake of Dark Shadows with, of course, Johnny Depp. Looks hysterical!
I saw that trailer too, looks ok.

I watched The Guard, loved it.

Also saw Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, it was ok. The characters were really good but they didn't do enough with them. Also a bit cliched.

Watched Bridget Jones's Diary for the hundreth time. Watched it with a girlfriend and a nice bottle(s) of red.

Pirates, in an adventure with scientists. really good film, lots of funny bits and the attention to detail in the backgrounds was amazing

Meh. Wasn't a total waste of time, but not at all exciting or surprising. The Da Vinci Code was better imo, even though critics seem to disagree.
I agree with you there CB The Da Vinci Code was better but I though A&D was Ok, but they really compromised on the story unlike the 1st one, and I would like to see what they would make of the next book.
