I just watched The Bone Collector. I haven't read the book- Sharlene has and says it was very good. I thought the film was great - although I worked out who the killer was the first time I saw him as he always plays weirdos.

I got this DVd and The Golden Compass from The Works where they've got a 2 for a fiver offer. A funny coincidence is that both movies have Kate Bush singing the closing music.

As a spoiler alert Bouncy if you want to know why they are not happy -

They Kill god off in the final book, prove all religion is nonsense and people are only in hell because the church told them they would be and they create a portal which releases all the souls from hell and stuff . God is shown as an Old man who has lost his faculties and is under the control of the metatron (voice of god).
And basically the main baddies in the whole series are a parody of the church.

This is from the Golden Compass books???? I saw the movie and hated it.... this book looks great
He's spoiling the end of the trilogy, Del.
I did give a spoiler alert and white it out

always annoyed me that they changed the name to the golden compass because american audiences would be confused by the Northern Lights title . Ah well .

Saw the new X-men film, really good, except that it messes with the timeline of the other films a bit. Still, a bit of historical inaccuracy for the sake of entertainment never hurt anyone.

See... if Pip had NEVER given the "spoiler" I would never have EVER wanted to read the books.... NOW I do. In fact I want to read the LAST book first  Why would I want to PLOW through two books to get to the best bit.... if the last book is amazing then I will read the first two... seems perfectly sensible to me.

I always read the first then the LAST page of a book first anyway.

But that spoils the ending! My mum does that and I never understood why - that's why when I gave her something I wrote to read I left off the last few pages...

Not as good as it could have been. I do like the use of the word 'hoor' though.
I enjoyed it but it was a little too slapstick from time to time. Good irish accents though

To be fair, Pegg was imitating a character played an actor who wasn't really Scottish (in Star Trek) in the first place. James Doohan (Scotty) was actually born in Canada and his parents were from Northern Ireland. So Pegg could probably be forgiven for doing a crappy Scottish accent. :p

His wife is Scottish, though, so I'm sure he did some homework with her and her family. :)

Do you mean Simon Pegg? o_O

I'm just saying that Simon Pegg's Scotty is a sort of impersonation of James Doohan's Scotty. Which is how it should be. :)

Same as the guy playing Dr McCoy was doing an impersonation of DeForest Kelley's Bones McCoy.

Yeah, sorry, I should've quoted BP not you - - becaus he should have a better handle on Scottish. I do believe that Karl Urban did the best impression as Bones.

Series Two of Big Fat Gypsy Weddings.

Brilliant series. A real eye opener, as was the first series.

Not to open a can of worms here but.... I am ASTONISHED! Are you really allowed there to put signs up on pubs and places that say "No Travellers/Gypsies"

Anyone that attempt to put any sign up like that here would be in court in two minutes!!!! (And sadly I have found alot of Aussies to be rascist... but even those ones know that rule). And the way venures can cancel if they find out the Bride and family are gypsies.....  My God! How?

Is it legal to do that?

Its Illegal here i Ireland to do it but it still happens. I've also seen entire towns close for a day if they hear a Traveller funeral is on.

When I lived out west whole towns (small country towns) would close down for the day for a funeral too.. but that was out of respect for the dead. Are you saying its not for that?
