the matrix is a classic, the others are just too confusing for me.
I think the issue was that they had put alot of information, alot of answers to certain questions and things in the game that came out between the 2nd and 3rd films. Studios seem to like to do that once in awhile, release info in their ancillary materials but don't talk about in the film. problem is since none of that stuff makes it in it leaves people wondering whats going on.

The worst offender of that was Cloverfield. They had made this whole big back story to the events in the movie about why the creature was attacking but never talked about it at all in the movie. The only way to get it was to follow the stuff they were doing online at the time. What was especially odd was that the main character of the film was indirectly tied to why the creature attacked. I liked the film, but I would have liked to have seen some of that in the movie proper.

I usually don't mind movies that throw you into the story without much explanation of why things are happening. I like mystery or being left to decide myself what's happened. The Road, book & movie are a firm favourite of mine as an example.

Oz the Great & Powerful was pretty bad.

Watched Pyramids of Mars, a Dr Who classic  great stuff. Also watched some X-Files S2, also very good.

I watched Frankenweenie last night and enjoyed it. Perhaps wasn't wowed by it, but it had that simple, quiet character-focused thing that I quite like- it makes a difference from the way a lot of films are filled with a tonne of extras and music and so forth. I don't have anything against those things, but the change is nice :)

I've recently reread the book and there are huge bits in there where Gandalf disappears for some unexplained reason, only to turn up again in the nick of time to save the dwarfs. There is plenty of scope for adding extra.

I wasn't bored for a single moment with this film.

Saw Oblivion last night, it was very good! First half hour is a bit Wall-e ish, though it picks up after that.
It looks like it could be good! I'm just wondering if I can sit through it without thinking, "crazy Tom Cruise" the whole time.

as I've watched Bakuman season 1 and 2 back to back I'm in need of a change
pace before I start the third season and I came across
Showa Monogatari
Dramatic story of the Yamazaki family during the year Showa 39 (1964),
the year that Tokyo hosted the Summer Olympics.
and it feels a lot like a Studio Ghibli creation

Put in The Man With the Iron Fists and didn't make it past the credits. I loved Pulp Fiction, but nothing since. Luckily, we had a backup, The Expendables 2. Also horrible, but in a fun way. Except I only got about 5 minutes of Jet Li and that was it. I felt cheated.

I tried to have a movie night last last night just about every film I had my eye on was still unavailable
Gwishini Sanda (ghost house)
The movie follows a man who buys a (well, haunted) house and has to deal with the ghost living in it. Later on, through utterly cinematic contrivances, he sort of gets to turn the tables. In the last third of the movie, theres an evil company that wants to build a hotel that comes in and has really nothing to do with the rest of the movie, other than to finish the plot. That's probably the biggest problem with this horror/comedy.
the only link I found that was playable was non subbed
kuchisake-onna 2 (Slit mouthed woman 2) I could only find the trailer
but I found a good film and two shorts Little Witch Academia, how to train your dragon gift of the night fury and 200 pounds beauty

Took the girls to see The Croods tonight... bit of a drive but worth it. Most theaters here can charge $15 a ticket and this one only charges $7.

I sooooo wanted to see Oblivion even though it does have idiot features Tom Cruise in it. ... but ...

Anyway.. it was a brilliant movie. I cried. And cried. I knew dad would HAVE to get back to his family. .. but I still cried.
