Watched a movie called The Details with Toby MaGuire last night. It was one of those movies where the main character's situation goes from bad to worse to catastrophic. Had to watch it on my own because those kind of movies stress hubby out. This one was a train wreck! Not as in, it was a bad movie. Just that you couldn't believe how bad things kept getting.

Very important, but did you see the look on Rob's face?

He really, REALLY, didn't want to be there.
Yes, I noticed that... I felt really sorry for him :( but the hardest part for me was the wife. I hope never to be in a situation like hers :S
Also, what was a bit... well, not weird and not shocking, but something similar was that they actually filmed how that man died. I mean, OK, it's a documentary, but still, we're talking about dignified death here, and even though he of course agreed to this, I mean, it's still public. I find that a bit odd...

I don't know about that. Having been with someone (my dad) at the moment of his death, it was quite a special moment, especially after he had been suffering for so long. To see all that pain just leave him was kind of fulfilling and not a bit like, for example, watching someone fall asleep.

Death is arguably one of the most natural processes in life. It's something that every human being will ultimately have in common and therefore should (in my opinion) be so hushed up and shrouded in mystery.

I see little undignified in watching the end of suffering and the final release of pain. :)

It used to strike me as odd that in a lot of classical myths death was a gift from the gods but it makes a bit more sense as people around you get older .

But you can still pay tax on it.

It's not that, I don't think death should be a taboo either, it's just as you too said: that it's a special moment, and I for example would not want to share it with the public...

I think the whole reason for this programme was to show it to the public, to rid some of the taboos.

I have to say, the guy gasping for breath and wanting a drink of water was difficult to watch.

I've recently been watching some episodes of Time Team on 4oD as it's been years since I saw any. Then I discovered that they have all the episodes available, so I watched the first ever. They all look so young!

And in that episode, they didn't even dig any ditches. o_O
