Just went to the cinema and saw star treck and I must say, even though I'm not a fan at all: It's a really good movie.
The plot is pretty good and it's one of few time-travel stories that actually makes sense.
There are a number of great action scenes, for instance the scene where Kurk gets chased by those two monsters. I watched this scene with my mouth open, it was so scary  . Sometimes, though you don't really know what's going on, because the camera moves so fast  .
But the effects were AMAZING! You really felt like the Enterprise was a huge space ship and that it was actually flying through space. It's got some of the best effects I've ever seen.

I think season 3's only just started over here Trish - it's weekly anyway so about 2 or 3 episodes.
Thanks, Jan. I got desperate enough to look imdb.com and found that episode 4 aired May 15. How do people get them on youtube so quickly, then?

Several months I should think Trish as this one's not finished airing yet

I saw the Hangover last week - not quite as funny as they make out but for an American guys out on a bender movie it's quirky and some of its not too predictable. There's some good masculine eye-candy in there too... ;)

Doesn't an ex- Dayly Show reporter play a part in this?

Erm... I don't know sorry - never heard of the Dayly Show
It's a pretty funny comedy show on CNN. It's mostly the moderator (forgot his name) doing jokes on politics and intervewing guests. It gets hilarious sometimes  . His favourite victim's Bush, even now.
I think I've read somewhere, that the ex-reporter was in the film, but I'm not sure.

Went to the cinema & saw Ice Age3 today. A very funny & enjoyable film, I laughed so much I cried. It has brilliant graphics too.
I am not a fan of the digital mastered cartoons, but the technology is getting better & better. I didn't feel it wasn't real at all.
I do still prefer drawn/painted cartoons, but I have a feeling because of the way progress is going, those are a thing of the past.

I prefer them too. But I don't nesseceraly think they're a thing of the past. Disney did another princess-movie in traditional, so there may still be hope.

Disney movies haven't been the same since Walt went. I don't like the way they draw peoples faces, they are hideous. You can tell the difference between films made before & after.

The first act of Wall-E is one of the most beautiful pieces of film I've seen, animated or otherwise.

Moving onto new Britcoms, watched a couple last night. Taking the Flak - not really hard edged to be a convincing satire, and not funny enough to be a convincing comedy - watchable, tho.

Getting On
- now, this is more like it - struck by the similarity in style to The Thick of It, not just because Joanna Scanlan is in it, then saw she also co-wrote it and Peter Capaldi directed - bone dry humour at it's best with a surprisingly subtle turn from Ricky Grover.

I agree with all three points! Except, I did stop watching Taking the Flak after about 15 minutes. Getting on was funny but also a bit sad. The consultant was brilliant - just like every consultant I knew when I worked in a hospital

I just went to see Ice Age 3 and I was laughing the whole way through. I wouldn't say the storyline was brillant. It was the same old lost-land-of-the-dinosaurs-story (except for the T-Rex: He's the good guy this time), just a lot funnier and set in the Ice Age.
A thing that surprised me was that it's a lot more adult than the previous movies, especially the second one. And it's got loads of dirty jokes .
(Sid: "Oh, look! It's a boy!" Manni: "That's it's tail, Sid." )
