I've just finished watching Shark In Venice starring Steven Baldwin. The film is a sort of Indiana Jones meets Jaws meets a Clive Cussler novel. It had pretty much every cliche imaginable including the type of street chase scene that Terry describes so well in the Watch series with people and obstacles getting in the way etc. Even the bad guys were dressed in black! What made it even funnier was that the film was intended to be a serious attempt at a thriller/horror. PMSL

God that sounds dreadful  I'm also surprised that a film with a shark in needs bad guys as well o_O For a guess, I'd say the shark eats them ;)

Watched The Fantastic Mr Fox recently. I'm not very familiar with the book, but I think some liberties were taken :)
It's made by Wes Anderson - I usually enjoy his films. This movie is like the Royal Tenenbaums, but with puppets. Recommended!

i watched the colour of magic/the light fantastic a few days ago. the film was great and i thoroughly enjoyed it but sir david jason just didnt seem right to me as rincewind. i always thought of rincewind as younger yet this old man was playing him (dont get me wrong i think sir david jason is a wonderful actor). i did enjoy it though and have now had to lend my niece it

last night i watched tropic thunder. all i can say about that is after ten minutes of watching it bored me literally to sleep!

2012.....Not strictly following the idea of this thread cause when I realized what a load of rubbish it was I watched a very very very long awful boring rubbish film in 20 minutes.

Thank God for the fast forward button.

Saw Clash of the Titans yesterday and it was pants. Actually I'm very cross because the first one was brilliant for it's time, all it needed was a bit of updating on the special effects, but they threw out the entire plot and replaced it with... well, nothing. I want my 7 quid back

 You may have saved me some dosh then Dotsie, 'cos I loved the original too and was maybe going to see it tomorrow

Ray Harryhausen was my special effects god, from when I was a little kid, so even though Clash of Titans 1 was using state of the art effects I actually preferred his stop-motion models (or early CGI designs for the characters) used in the film, of which he hit an all-time high with the Medusa - what a way to go out on a fantastic career!

I'll think I'll wait for the kids go back to school to see it (unless other sci-fi/fantasy nuts think the same) because I hate watching films with a full capacity audience...

I loved the original Clash of the Titans & couldn't believe they'd remake it. From the remarks by you, Dotsie, I'll not bother seeing this new version.
They ruined War of the World's too.

Medusa might have been the most disappointing special effect this time round. A foxy chick in a bikini top with a "come hither" giggle, engaging the hero in a high-speed chase through a temple. I'm more frightening than that!

No they didn't its just people always truly believe that the first thing they see is better than any remakes which is false in almost all cases. War of the Worlds was improved, ET was improved, King Kong was improved and improved again. 007 always gets better, the Dark Night is the best batman or super hero film of all time.

Sorry, theoldlibrarian, but I don't agree about The War of the Worlds, both versions were rubbish, though the first American film did sort of stick to the plot, but neither were how HG Wells meant them to be.
Listen to the Jeff Wayne's version, that is the one they should have filmed.

Yes

Not seen any before Pierce Brosnan, so that's not hard to improve on, but they're not remakes are they?

Nope, that's Batman Begins (which is I suppose kind of a remake of the franchise)

ETA Clash of the Titans mark 2 is still pants

Oops, sorry going to have to disagree again (not on purpose ;) ) now that I've read this properly, and ask if you seen Kick Ass yet? It rules! 8) (It is pretty violent though  )
