I watched Machete! last night. It's completely
mental, but in a good way. I've also seen a fairly effective little made for TV chiller called The Messengers, which my mate lent me on DVD. (
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0425430/ ) If it pops up on the telly it's worth a look, but I wouldn't recommend you spend money on the DVD.
Telly-wise, I've been devouring the first three series of The Big Bang Theory (on DVD, yes, but it
is a telly show) and enjoying it far more than I thought I would and, thanks to the miracle that is Sky+, This is England '86, which is utterly brilliant. I never get sick of watching the stuff that Shane Meadows makes.
