It's a shame isn't it? Actually, I really didn't like the movie. I didn't like the way it ended. Although I suppose they could easily bring back the series and either ignore what happened in the movie or have us assume that all the new episodes are happening before those events?

Another Firefly fan here. And although I didn't really like the ending to Serenity either, I suppose it's OK cos I really can't see anyone making another series. Shame :(

Watched Ironman the other night. Surprisingly good, but I was a bit o_O at the level of violence shown towards baddies. Superheroes are supposed to tie them up & deliver them to the authorities, not beat the snot out of them!

I never used to be a comics gal, but then I met and married a confirmed comic book geek and it was a case of read them or drown under them.

I maintain a spandex embargo, I refuse any superhero comics unless they completely subvert the genre but I still can't read everything else that's out there in one lifetime. Some of the best writing going on out there (not written by Terry) is happening in the comics medium. Warren Ellis, Alan Moore, Garth Ennis, Mike Carey... and of course Joss Whedon.

The firefly comics are pretty good and think of it this way, if other formats of the universe prove popular, the execs might have to reconsider the cancellation of the tv show and we'll get the full 7 season story arc orginally envisioned.

Well, it's a dream...

@%##! You've got me thinking about buying these things now! :x I spent some time online yesterday trying to figure out exactly what was out there, what came first, how much they cost and where I could buy them from. If this kicks off some kind of comic addiction, I'm fully blaming you Jamara.

She's right. If you look on the bright side there's only rich tea bisciuts and those pink wafer thingies.

 I've also been watching the first couple seasons of my favorite cartoon ever, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Derek and I laugh much more than the Things do!
 I first saw that these past couple of weeks when it was one of the few things available to watch on the cabin TV. Have to admit I laughed too, then I saw another funny cartoon called Billy and Mandy, where they're friends with Death. I thought he looked familiar and one of the first things I saw when I came back onto the forums was the same Grim, in RACKU's avatar.

Firefly is also great. I love that episode, A Man Named Jane.

Well, I may have found some happy middle ground. I've put the comics from 2006 on hold at the library. That way I'll get to read some without actually committing. So, I'm still in the light - but I can smell the cookies from here. ;)

Billy and Mandy is another good one! We rarely got to watch that one though. And now, we hardly watch any tv. If there's a good series we usually jump in late and either watch the episodes online or get the dvds from the library.

That is my favorite Firefly episode! Although a very close second is the one where the bounty hunter gets on the ship. That guy is brilliant!! So creepy and disturbing, yet oddly likeable. And he's got great lines.

Went to see the new Disney film, Bolt, today. It was really good! I wasn't expecting much. Just wanted all of us to get out on this cold dreary day. Saw some great previews too. The new Pixar film Up looks great, an Adam Sandler film Bedtime Stories, and Inkheart. All looked good!

We've recently watched Casino Royal - good Bond, terrible plot. The whole middle of the movie made no sense. And Hellboy II, amazing special effects, lightweight plot, fun to watch.

Guillermo del Toro is also directing the 2 forthcoming Hobbit movies - he did an NZ radio interview with Peter Jackson from London & having read a transcript of that I have to say he (Toro) sounds as though he'll do an even better job for the Hobbit than Jackson (who's producing and co-writing the screenplay too) did for the LotR. Lots of Oscars in store for this chap in the future too methinks
