I LOVE Galaxy Quest - it is so funny.

Funily enough, when I lent it to my Dad, who is a huge Trekkie and who introduced me to Trek when I was 8, he wasn't all that impressed.

You could have insulted his heroes maybe o_O: Dont knock the spock sort of thing.
I love Star trek but not enough to dislike galaxy quest, that film is funny in its own special kind of way.

Maybe, but I'm as much of a Trekkie as he is, and I thought it was great! I felt it wasn't so much taking the proverbial out of Trek, more out of the fans, but in a friendly 'ribbing' kind of way.

These reactions from Star Trek actors to Galaxy Quest are quite interesting.

I think William Shatner's comment is very tongue in cheek.

That's great - I hadn't read those before - thanks :)

Alas,Germany
Hey Guys,I dont know if you understand any German but have you heard of Bully Herbig?
He made a parody on Enterprise a while ago called "Traumschiff Surprise".It´s very funny, mixes up quite a lot of sci-fi-films and the notion of spacetravel plus the captain is gay and Spock, while basically male, is called "the vulcanette".The places he hides pens.... :eek:They are actually trying to train for the election of Miss Waikiki when caught up in a mad save the world action.
The best scene is when they all get into a taxi(-spaceship) and try to chat up the taxidriver, who is played by Til Schweiger.
The baddie is Sky Dumont.Even the kids love it although of course they dont always understand why mummy is laughing...

If you want sifi spoofs in a different language try Kenny Starfighter a Swedish film based on a childrens tv hero. His favorite words are bullibulli
it means hello and ishlu-pishlu which means disgusting in his own language.

Thanks for those quotes Tony. I always thought they might take them in fun. Loved Galaxy Quest. I love Hyperdrive too. The crappy uniforms, the cabin fever they sometimes get, everyting about it.

Tonight I watched "Bran Nue Dae" an aboriginal musical comedy Aussie movie with Geoffery Rush, Ernie Dingo, among others. WONDERFUL.

Green Zone - which was good, but not brilliant.
Easy A - which was far better than I thought it would be. The first 'teen' film I've enjoyed since Ten Things I Hate About You.
Drag Me to Hell - which was a bit obvious and nothing like as good as the hype made it out to be.
Titan A.E. - which baffles me. Why aren't more SF fans falling over themselves to praise this? Jaw dropping animation, a genuinely sharp and witty script, fast paced, action packed and top notch voice acting. If you like action based SF and haven't seen this already, you're missing a very enjoyable film.

Yep see it, but only downloaded, really cool film (especially for us oldies who remember the first one). My son had to download the first one to apreciate the second.
