Hi, I know visit you very rarely. I run Polish fanpage and today we started this topic that I wanted to share and read your opinions. What if... article - this is for those who speak Polish.
Long story short, the idea is that if read so much of fantasy books, especially Discworld, but others too, we create some sort of our own worlds that exist in other dimensions. No, imagine that one you wake up, but it's not the Earth anymore. Maybe you have passed away but you don't know about it anymore. All you know it must have been some kind of a long dream. You are now in this fantasy world. The longer you are there, the less you remember from previous life, you are familiar with this world, but still discover it as if it was your first visit there.
No, taking it further, if faith can bring a godess to living and imagination can create worlds, take a combination of those two and think of Sir Terry. There must be a world, maybe Discworld being somewhere. It's both old and young in the way it is still learning about itself. After that many books this world is not only easy to imagine, but also predictable to learn it's history and sociology.
Now imagine, that this world, ones it's created by Terry, it is calling for it's creator. It wants to know everything and answer ultimate questions. It even started organising him a transportation which our (Earth) doctors call an Alzheimer...

) we're all pretty adept at 'living in our heads' - we find it easy to drift in and out of the landscape of the imagination and to some extent find an escape route into the other worlds we find so fascinating and more rewarding than this one we're saddled with. From that viewpoint it's not a terribly hard thing to take on board the idea that you can be transported cerebrally to another reality, that's not truly physical, but feels as though it is for a while at least. Until you've finished the book or woken up again. :think:
