When you're reading using your 'head voice' :p what voice do you give the leading people?

Personally, i give Rincewind, Eric Idle. Just like the game, and i played the game before i read the books so i had the pleasure of having that wonderful voice throughout Rincewinds arc.

I attatch Maggie smiths professor mcgonagall to Esmerelda Weatherwax for some reason, even though i know she's from discworlds "west country" equivalent i read her with Maggies smiths voice.

you?

Welcome to the site, Juken!

After the first time I met Terry, I used to read the books with Terry's voice in my head. Sort of like he was reading them to me.

Can't find a comparsion for the voices I give'm, but I'm rather worried bout the fact I hear HEX and Ridcully with an accent when reading (swiss for HEX and cologne-dialect for Ridcully)

They got Vetinari spot on with Charles Dance on telly IMO, its how I always imagined him, even though I did go through Mr Burns phase for a short while

Liz Smith was Granny Ogg, no question

Odd but for Carrot I hear Steven Marchant.

Hellooo and welcome Juken!

I always hear Brian Blessed's voice for Ridcully and Christopher Lee for Death.
Agreed. And Jeremy Irons is Vetinari for me, although I hear his voice as Scar from The Lion King rather than his performance in The Colour of Magic.

Rincewind? Well, I hear Idle's voice, but I don't see the game Rincewind.

Hmmm...For Granny Weatherwax, the nearest analogy to the voice I hear would be Tress MacNeille if she did a West County accent. And acted subtly, which she can do.

Oh, wait! I actually think that Jean Marsh is Granny Weatherwax, actually. :) Found the voice I hear her speaking in.

As another Briggs fan, I find it hard to imagine most voices being done better than his vocalizations, save for the witches, whom Nigel Planer does better.

Although I could imagine Michael Gambon doing Ridcully's voice, Judi Dench doing Granny and Stephen Fry doing Vetinari.

That's what I tend to do more, when I begin to notice my own voice in my head. It's only really with Feegles that I do voices.

Oh, and Fids, I love your Stephen Merchant idea for Carrot, not physically, but in voice if's perfect!

Welcome Juken! :)

I was pleased to hear at the production of Wyrd Sisters I was at last weekend that the witches all had Lancashire accents. The rest of the cast were a bit hit and miss with the voices, but they were still very good
