Yesterday, I broke my longstanding personal taboo never to own a copy of "Pyramids" and bought one because I'm going to give it one more try. I had to have a Corgi Kirby addition to complete my Corgi Kirby Kollection but they're not available directly in the states, so I bought a used one through Ebay-UK, which I used to buy all my other KirbyCorgis. Altogether, the whole thing, including shipping to the U.S., cost a total of around UK 4 pounds, which is about US $7. That's cheaper than the cost of buying and shipping a US version.
I've just started reading Pyramids this morning so far so good...

when I first started out reading them I brought them from various second hand sellers my first big discovery was finding the first 12 books in one stand for less than a fiver now I buy them depending on how specialised the book is from either asda or waterstones (I have a points card)

Couldn't agree more wwd, the only books I ever PDF download to read are ones I intend to buy or ones that are out of copyright, likewise DVDs, I only ever buy pirate copies if I am likely to buy the real version if I enjoy the film.

I buy them in hardback because I just can't wait. Then when the paperback comes out, I buy it because they're easier to handle. Then I look for second hand copies to lend people. I usually also try to get the UK/Canadian edition as well as the US edition because sometimes there are subtle differences. Sometimes there are not so subtle differences (The Truth had some serious differences - one missing line changed a character, and one misplaced comma changed a different one).

The only thing that bothers me about pirate copies Square, is you never know who you are funding, I would hate to think the money was going to terrorists and fundamentalists that aids them in injuring or killing our troops.

Sorry to necro this thread... :p

Let's see, there are about 4 or 5 different editions of various Discworld editions on my bookshelf atm. Most of them are the paperbacks with the cover art from Josh Kirby. Some of the later ones ar large hardcovers published by Doubleday.

But most recently I've started buying the whole series again, this time in the amazingly beautiful (imo), utterly droolworthy editions from pubisher Gollancz. Not all books are released yet, I believe they release 1 or 2 each month, so that's good enough to keep up with. They're 10 pounds when first released, dropping to 7 or 8 after a month or two. I get them at Waterstones. I've got 19 of them so far. So they're slowly becoming the lead version on the shelf ^_^
