I've only just started watching Dr. Who and I'm still in season 1. So I only know one Who. Took me a few episodes to get into it, but I'm enjoying it so far.
I used to work in the store where Rose worked, that got blown up in episode 1. ;)
 Really?! Did you like working there, or were you happy to see it blown up?

I've also just started watching - seen the first three episodes (the Eccleston ones). It's fun, but can't say I'm very impressed. I might be getting too old for this stuff ;)
Stick with it Willem - the Christopher Ecceleston Who had a lot of integrity and in some ways I prefer his portrayal in the lead role, even than David Tennant's. I wish he'd stayed for a second series because he was really finding his feet and giving us something new with the Doctor's terrible grief and loneliness over losing his own planet and people, which made Rose gradually falling for him in series 2 & 3 (as Tennant) all the more poignant and inevitable because you could see the spark developing for them both in that 1st series.

I don't know what other people think of the 'long-term' Doctors. My all-time fave is Tom Baker who, with hindsight, was in the role far too long although I was really, really horrified when he left and it took me a long time to accept Peter Davidson. The subsequent Doctor's were all great and put their own stamp on the role, but by the time Sylvester McCoy took up the reins the lack of support on the production side was really telling, even though scrfeen-side the quality never dropped. So I'm looking forward to watching this Matt Smith take, which reminded me in places of Tom Baker and of Patrick Troughton in the role.

Oh god. Are you saying Rose is in the 2nd and 3rd seasons as well?
She was in the 1st and 2nd series, and was in the finale for series 4. She didn't seem to know how to leave!
 You're quite right Mystmoon - I think season 2 must have seemed much longer than it really was!

Catch-up - Rose is OK on the whole and she's excellent with the Daleks in season 1. I just don't rate the girl who plays her as an actress too much (it's the horrible dark roots... :p ) she always seems to be playing the same role no matter what she's in!

Isn't she doing the secret diary of a call girl now?

I've watched three more episodes, it's growing on me :)

I'd only ever seen Christopher Eccleston in 'The Second Coming' mini-series, took some time to shake that image off. I'm used to him by now - but I'm not sure how long it will take to get used to Billie Piper!

Thanks for the info Jan! I don't think I'll ever get used to Billie Piper. o_O But, I can probably tolerate another season of her as long as I don't have to endure seeing the mother and the boyfriend again. Christopher Eccleston took some getting used to as well. He was a little too manic for me.

Catch-Up - Jackie and Mickey do get a whole lot better I assure you ... I personally loved Jackie ... without spoiling it, the Doctor himself comes to care about her too!

Part 8

Fritz rushed out the foliage chasing after Paula. Sighing with relief as it was only a group of five guards - the strongest - were holding her though she was not exactly scared. That was an understatement - she was struggling almost biting someone on the arm and kicking another burly guard on the shin. The Dictator was almost tempted to watch on. Entertainment value level 10. Dignity level 0. Fritz decided to keep the Dignity level up and think of something else to heighten Entertainment levels. Chuckling he stepped forward but a Guard pointed the gun at his heart.

"Hands up! We are informed by our leader General Ribbentrop to arrest you!"

Fritz might have known. How could it have been any different?

"Does Ribbenstrop give you a proper explanation?"

Paula smiled at the nickname, mentally high-fiving him.

"No reason but that you and anyone supporting you are to be put under official arrest!"

Now Paula, open your mouth and tell them you are not with anyone but the Doctor. Emphasise Doctor - NOT Dictator but Doctor. Despite her mind screaming at her tongue her jaw refused to be ordered about. Fritz looked at her and put on a brave face.

"Are you sure there is no reason for this insipid arrest?"

Then the biggest burliest of them all stepped forward. Scarred down the centre of his lips, chin and zig zagging down the side of neck. Piercing eyes glared down at them. Bull necked, broad shouldered - could kill you by pressing you down gently with a thumb and saucepan lid sized hands; Paula gulped. No one could fight this one!

"So, General Ribbentrop, what is the meaning of this?"

The man's lips curved in a smile. Paula saw the scar almost crack. Veins stood out at the side of his neck as if the jaw muscles were unfamiliar with the concept of a smile. Paula spied some greying hairs creeping beneath the base of his cap. The bulky General turned and appraised Paula.

"The meaning?" he growled. "We have not conquered North America yet. South America yielded thanks to the Klan and Canada yielded due to her links with this country but North America itself ... I thought we were going to arrest their President and send in our army?"

"We are just give me time. It has to be done just right ... besides reports from our spies are that he is responding well to the poison and will either give up due to illness or will die and we can manouvre our attack then!"

Paula raised an eyebrow at Fritz's diplomacy. General Ribbentrop crossed his arms. Muscles rippled underneath the uniform - biceps bulged almost tearing the seams of the sleeves.

"Well, he is taking a jolly long time to die wouldn't you say? I am almost impressed by the President's tenacious hold on his own life and his own power. I wouldn't want to give up my country to a snot nosed pipsqueak like you Fritz. You're not half the man your grandfather or your father were!"

"He's smarter!" Paula found herself saying. Why does she say the wrong things? Always the wrong things!

General Ribbentrop turned his full attention back to Paula. Taking one stride he brought out a whip and used the handle to tilt her chin up holding her gaze longer than she liked. Using the base of the handle he stroked down her chin down between her breasts and rested on her heart that was pounding hard. He took another step towards her covering her entirely in his shadow. Paula wanted nothing better than to drop dead but she was here to start a revolution. Maybe Fritz was not the bad guy despite his ancestry - somehow she wanted to be nice to him ... Ribbentrop was a different kettle of Nazi fish altogether. He was a bully.

"Guards," he purred. "Take the sap down to the dungeons. And take this woman to my private chambers."

"She's mine, General!"

"You are a Traitor to the Reich - Arrest him!"

Fritz winced as he felt his arms forcibly yanked back and winced again when the handcuffs were slapped harshly around his wrists. General Ribbentrop smirked as he pulled Paula close to his body. She would be snapped like a twig if she fought. So she remained somewhat placid.

"Oh yes, you'll do!" he turned around. "Guards are you deaf by any chance?" They shuffled and glanced awkwardly at each other. "No?" he said almost sweetly. "THEN MOVE YOU SCUMBAGS!"

Paula tried to run away from her new captor. "Oh no you don't!" Ribbentrop growled pulling her back using her hair - giving her a headache.

"What are you going to do to me?" Paula asked through gritted teeth.

"Well," he smirked. "What do men and women do?" Paula's eyes showed her fear. "I like the look of fear on women ... It's beautiful and suits you!"

He nodded to two guards who each took one of her arms and led her away. Ribbentrop nodded to a giant pepperpot hovering in the sky. Soon he, and they with him, would be Masters of the World.

Frieda had lost count of the times she had been flung into a cell. So had the Doctor. He was hanging onto the bars trying to find a lose or bent bar that could be easily manipulated but he was helpless - even with the sonic screwdriver it would be almost futile as they would probably run into more guards. Frieda's head had lolled despondently on its side. The Doctor turned and sat beside her giving her head his shoulder to lean on. Sooner than later Fritz was unceremoniously flung into the cell too.

"Wshggifrugl," Frieda mumbled.

The Doctor bolted right up and turned Fritz around. "Paula ... Where is Paula?"

"Fate worst than death," the young man sighed. Shoulders sagging. "General Ribbentrop has got her."

The Doctor laughed. "Ribbentrop?"

"Don't laugh, he is not an idiot! Bull necked, bull headed, and pretty hot on the colour red."

"Let me guess his star sign is Taurus?" the Doctor asked.

"No ... I think he is a Virgo!"

"So much for the Stars!" The Doctor rolled his eyes a mischievous smile on his lips. "Never mind, I'm into science not into fortune telling! Mind you I've been to many futures ... all pretty bleak!"

Fritz strode up to the cleaner and bent down on his knees to glance into her eyes. "What have I done, Johann? I thought if I could marry Paula ... give her false name ... I like her - I have never liked anyone in my life but ... something about her ... I know she is not your niece. I heard your conversation and let you tell me your little lies - I wanted to be fooled. Who are you? And who is she?"

"I am simply the Doctor. And Paula is one of many young women fed up of having her children taken away from her!"

"I have tried to change that, but my advisors keep that law in place. I was taken away from my mother like everyone but I had the fortune of being reunited in my early teens so I knew who I really was. Grandfather was barely alive so I knew him too. An absolute monster - with bad breath!"

The Doctor smiled. "Yes, I did hear the old boy had halitosis. How he managed to seduce a lovely woman like Eva Braun is beyond me."

"She was a bimbo!"

"Don't be too sure," the Doctor warned. "She knew what she was doing ... And she never joined, did she?"

"Not officially no!"

"Clever!"

"Back to Paula, Doctor. What are we going to do?"

The Doctor leant against the bars. "Oh, leave it to Paula. Have faith in your subjects ... I think she liked you too."

"She slapped me in the face!"

"So?" The Doctor shrugged his shoulders. He picked up his pocket watch to check the time. "She came to start a revolution. I don't think it was you she was meant to start the revolution against!"

General Ribbentrop marched into his chambers where Paula was chained to the bedpost like a dog. With food bowl. A long chain so she could attend to certain things but otherwise helpless.

"So," General Ribbentrop sighed. "Now, what shall I do with you?"

"Go to hell!" Paula spat!

"Tut-tut - with the banning of all religions we have done away with that archaic concept!"

"I like the idea of a burning pit for the bad guys to burn forever in!" Paula exclaimed. "It gives me immense satisfaction!" The chambers were luxuriant but also quite stark. There were hardly any personal items such as photographs and no ornaments like a vase - there was not even a mirror in the room. The main colour theme was dark mahogany, dark red and black drapes and white pillows on the bed and sofa's. "What have you done with Fritz?" Paula asked.

"He is with your ... Uncle is it? and a serf!"

"Where?"

"Now, now," he said as he strode up to her. Tapping the curled up whip onto his palm. "What," step. "Shall," step. "I," step. She backed away. "Do," step. Edging further back retreating as far as she could. "With you?"

She had backed into a bedside cabinet. He was close. She was no match for him ... None whatsoever! The world had darkened. It would not have been a chore to have been subservient to Fritz and definitely not with the Doctor but with Ribbentrop it would not be ordinary subservience though - it would be sheer terror that would cause her to obey.

"Li-Listen, General," she stammered. "I am ..."

"You are not pregnant, are you?"

"No ... But I am menstruating."

"I cannot sense that. I will make this easy for an unlettered serf like you to understand. I give the orders, and people like you obey. I say jump. You say how high. I say beg. You beg! I say you are my wife and you introduce yourself as my wife!"

Paula think of something else to say. His glare silenced her. No one had ever continued looking into his piercing eyes and Paula was no exception. She turned her head away shamefully. Wishing she was with the Doctor or with Fritz rather than here. There may have been no hell but she was now in a place close enough to it!
