Boy, even 5 is a really tough choice.

I would put:

The Avengers first
then
Chronicles of Riddick
then.. oh, it's making me mental!

Fifth Element,
because I felt it gave the most realist view of the future.

Avatar

Transformers

Pen' you started this! I hate you!!!

My choice isn't a movie - Firefly. Serenity is the Firefly movie, but I can't say it's the best ever even if I love it.

I don't think the greatest sci-fi movie has been made yet, as I mentioned somewhere before. I think the genre is still wide open for true greatness, but topping my list at the moment is

Blade Runner
Alien
Mad Max
A Space Odyssey
Inception
Close Encounters

It's taken me a while to get back here but I will try to sort the nominations into a final five or so for the voting round tonight (definitely sci-fi only Con  ).

Antique, you seem to have made six nominations, could you tell me which one to ignore please.

I agree about the substance not being all that much.
However...if the number of times watched counts...

Two lines i somehow seem to have etched in my mind, have nothing to do with my age at the time and the 'prettiness' of Jane Fonda of course. :liar:

"Here pretty,pretty..."

"What kind of girl are you?!" asked by Durand-Durand(yep,that's where they got their name ;) )after breaking
(edit : scratch my former recollection of orgasmatron,it has been a 'while', and make it...)the Excessive Machine.

I love Barbarella, my favourite film of all time.

I've tallied up the nominations and compiled the 'final' voting round which can be found HERE.

@Mongo: Although your nominations came after the cut off deadline, I did use them to try to eliminate some of the films that scored only four nominations to create a smaller final (a tie-breaker, so to speak). Unfortunately, it didn't work.

I know, I forgot a load of films (not Avatar btw, I've not seen it) that would otherwise have made my list. It's probably just as well that it was restricted to Sci-Fi only, since my head would probably have exploded trying to include films like Lord of the Rings and Conan.

Sorry Tiff, I didn't notice your question until I was tallying up the nominations this morning. Personally, I would have considered them as fantasy rather than Sci-Fi but I chose to include it (the first one) as a nomination, because I did miss it. :)
