Of course the next changing of history to suit will be the remake of the Dambusters.

Guy Gibsons dog will be called digger.

I guess this one will annoy/please depending on which side of the PC gone mad divide you stand.
And of course Guy Gibson will also be an American and 617 Squadron will consist of B-17 Flying Fortresses. :p ;)

Have any historical movies ever been 100% accurate?

I was just having a bit of a pop at a film released a few years ago where the Americans took over the British roles and became the heroes (can't remember the name). If I do remember correctly, the glaring inaccuracies caused quite a bit of a stink at the time.

My earlier rant wasn't about the historical inaccuracies, it was about the fact that the studio deliberately destroyed the reputation of a man with surviving relatives for the sake of a 2 minute scene in a film. They could have taken it out, but they figured they'd be better off financially if they just flew over to say sorry. There's a big difference between that (ethically wrong) and artistic license (more entertaining). Or am I the only one to see that? Hmm?

The British have been happy enough to claim they found and cracked it as well which is also wrong and therefore unethical.

The Poles as our Dutch friend pointed out.
They handed it all over to the french and english but had captured and cracked machines and codes from 1932 on . So pooh historical inaccuracies can crop up everywhere

What your probably thinking about are the short code or weather code books captured from two seperate U Boats which helped crack Shark which was the encoding used for U Boast Communications

Well thats the incident the film you were saying was incorrect was based badly on so your correction of the incorrectness was incorrect as well
