I just read my first Discworld book (Guards! Guards!) and I'm eager to explore more. ;)
I read in an article that said Sir Terry is widely beloved among authors. Who are these authors?
I know the Russian fantasy writer Sergey Lukyanenko and A. S. Byatt said Sir Terry is their favorite.
Have you heard of other writers praising Sir Terry Pratchett?

Well Bernard Cornwell for one. When asked who his favourite character in another series of books is, he said Samuel Vimes. :)

Welcome Natalya! Don't apologise for your English, it's much better than my Russian
Thanks for kind words, spideyGirl! ;)
But I think that I have to prepare people about my possible (variety!) mistakes! :) And I will be very glad if anyone will correct me. I am not bad at reading in English but writing&speaking is difficult for me so far. ... Sorry for off-topic post. :)

I have spoken a number of times to A.J. Hartley http://www.ajhartley.net/, and know that he is a huge fan of Sir Terry's. I "met" Mr. Hartley on Twitter when he commented on a tweet I posted about "The Fifth Elephant", and from there we have exchanged quite a lot of email and twitter traffic - a fair portion of that related to pTerry. (He's a good author himself; I particularly liked the Will Hawthorne books. I really hope there's a third in the works.)

I love humor fantasy books very much. 7 years ago I liked such books of modern famous Russian woman-writer Olga Gromycko (Ольга Громыко) (when I was younger than now! :)). She is writing very funny books about life and love of young (about 23 years old) witch. In one of her interviews she said: "...No, you are wrong! I'm not the funniest writer!
The all funniest things already was said by Terry Pratchett...". After that I started to find TP's book everywhere. After reading TP's books I was slightly disappointed with my favourite woman-writer :) After TP's book I stopped to love Olga Gromyko's books. Because I understood that it were not as deep as TP's books. The humor is not enough for our souls, exactly! :)
PS Sorry for my seldom arrive in forum… Many works, many cares… But I often read your posts ! :)
